Last Saturday we attended an event hosted by our friend James' charity, Run for Innocence. The awareness walk, speeches, and family games drew a good crowd and the event was a complete success.
We helped with a carnival for the youth last night and had a good time. Working with the youth has its perks - Riley is already 'in' with the teens (i.e. prospective babysitters).
And finally: we planted a garden! With peppers, tomatoes, and cilantro, it will be the most expensive salsa we will have ever gotten, if all goes well. We also threw in a few flowers for aesthetics and to deter the bugs. Our first garden! I am so excited to see if it works! Honesty compels me to note that Dave did 99% of the work - I planted about one thing and Riley just sat by eating grass and "singing". But it FELT like a fun family effort, and it was a nice way to kick-start my summer ambition list. Also on the list: play at Seven Peaks, hike to the 'G' (Pleasant Grove's letter on the mountain), finally try the strawberries and cream during the Pleasant Grove's Strawberry Days (the line was too long last year), have another awesome baby...its going to be an exciting summer ;)
A few things...
ReplyDelete1. She is such a doll!
2. We planted a garden too. Let's come up with a plan to keep the feral days out of our gardens, yes?
3. Did you get the Pass of all Passes? If yes, let's carpool to Seven Peaks.
4. The trick with the strawberries and cream is to get there early. And to really play up your pregnancy.
Thanks, Janeal! And did you mean feral strays out of the gardens? Because I've been wondering about that too - if they become a bother, might have to get out my shotgun! haha jk - let me know if you find a cat-repellant. We did get the p of all p and would love to playdate at Seven Peaks!
